America in the World
July 5 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
You are invited to join The Charles Malik Institute for our upcoming webinar, “America in the World,” on July 5th at 12:00 p.m. ET. In conversation with Andrew Doran, cofounder of In Defense of Christians and former member of the policy planning staff at the U.S. Department of State, we will tackle some of the biggest questions of our moment.
How should America handle shifting alliances and power dynamics in an increasingly multipolar world? Is it possible or desirable for America to lead the world, not just in the economic and political realm, but on the moral front? How can the U.S. engage countries with sullied human rights records without compromising its principles or its interests?
While these questions are particularly pressing in our generation, they aren’t new. Christian Lebanese statesman Charles Malik spent his career pondering the role of America, and the West at large, on the global stage. Because of his high regard for American values, he often criticized the country for neglecting to live up to them. America fails on the global stage, he argued, in so far as it fails to be itself.
Drawing from Malik’s extensive writings on this topic and Doran’s decades of practical experience, we will wrestle with the questions shaping the debate about the future of American foreign policy. You don’t want to miss it!
